Middle School Conference

March 22 - 23

Kansas City Convention Center

Dear Parents,

The Believe Conference is just around the corner and we wanted to make sure you were as informed as possible before signing up your child to join us on this amazing weekend event specifically designed for Jr. high students (grades 6-8).

First timers

In case you’ve never heard of Believe before, let me give you a quick overview. It’s a weekend event produced by Christ In Youth, an organization that has been putting together age-intentional events all over the world for almost 50 years (you can check out their website atwww.ciy.com/believe). It takes place in a large auditorium, where your child will worship alongside tons of other students their age. It’s literally an experience they’ll get nowhere else. It’s also one of the safest and most well-organized events for students in the country!

The Theme & Topics

The theme this year at Believe is “I AM” and will help students explore their identity in Christ. The idea of identity is a universal struggle. Every generation wrestles with it. Jr. high students sit at a pivotal moment in their lives where they are constantly asking the question “Who am I?” A student can’t truly know who they are until they know who God is. And this year CIY’s Believe tour will help Jr. high students understand what it means to find their identity in God.

There are hundreds of “I Am” statements in the Bible, but Believe will focus on four key phrases that will be a foundation for middle school students to have deeper conversations about identity: “I am God’s masterpiece,” “I am God’s child,” “I am the church” and “I am a Kingdom worker.”

Small Groups

Believe also offers small group times in which your child can connect with adult leaders and other students. This is one of the most important things we can do as a youth ministry. Next to your influence as a parent, building those bonds between our leaders and their peers is the No. 1 thing that will help your child grow in their relationship with Christ.

If you register by February 3rd you can get the early rate of $119. The regular rate is open until March 3rd of $139. The price will go toward the event ticket, 1 night at a hotel (Leaders will not share rooms with students.), and bus transportation for 2 days. Students are encouraged to invite friends to join them, even if they have never been part of our church!

What about Summer Camp?

Great question! After experiencing the summer camp in 2018, the middle school leader team has determined that the Believe Conference is a much better experience. We also we can accommodate significantly more middle school students at 1/3 of the price. Don’t worry, we’ll have plenty of summer events for your students, they just won’t be overnight experiences.

Which hotel are you staying in?

We are still working out certain logistics and will update the website once those accommodations have been finalized.

Which adults are going and what is the adult leader ratio?

We are still in the process of confirming all the leaders, but we will have a 1 leader for every 7 students ratio. Once we have the finalized list, we will post it here.

We’re excited for Believe and the amazing experiences we’ll have over the weekend. If you have any questions that can’t be answered by visiting www.ciy.com/believe, then please contact me at theo@restorecc.org.
